School Days

Ugh. The school meeting today. Definitely didn’t go as I had planned. Apparently compared to other students in Anne’s grade and class, she is just fine. Great to know. But we have so many struggles at home and keep bringing home failing test scores. How is that satisfactory?? Speaks volumes of the American education any more. There are great teachers, guidance counselors and administrators but if parents don’t hold their kids to higher expectations they are just going to keep failing and think that’s ok. It’s not ok to consistently fail and be considered average in your class. It’s no ok to sit in a meeting where school officials tell you that your child is average and doing fine compared to her peers when you know they aren’t fine and it’s questionable how much they are actually retaining. It’s just hard to take.
